Q’s Reviews – February 3, 2020

February 3, 2020

The Rhythm Section.  Blake Lively, playing Stephanie Patrick, displays an incredible range in her performance.  Unfortunately, it is wasted on this third-rate revenge flick.  Patrick is an ordinary woman who becomes a drug riddled prostitute after her family was tragically killed in a plane crash.  When she discovers that the crash was not an accident, she becomes obsessed with revenge.  She must clean up her act and learn the skills to break into the extremist group responsible for blowing up the plane.  What follows is a series of impossible events as she gets, with blind luck, the best of every encounter with many evil henchmen. She finally outsmarts the lead terrorist and the movie blessedly ends.  Rated R for violence, sexual content, language throughout, and some drug use.

2020 Oscar Nominated Short Films: Live Action.   A Sister, Brotherhood, The Neighbors’ Window, Saria and Nefta Football Club are the five short films presented.  They are from around the world and all marvelous.  The future of cinema is bright.  If you get a chance to see these, do.

2020 Oscar Nominated Short Films: Animation.  The five nominated Shorts are Hair Love, Dcera (Daughter), Sister, Memorable and Kitbull.  They are all fantastic and represent the future direction of animation.  We were also treated to five more shorts as honorable mentions which were great fun, especially one called Horse Piste.  Again, search these out and enjoy.
